چکیده

We propose a cognitively motivated vertically layered two-pass agent architecture for realizing responsiveness, reactivity, and pro-activeness of smart objects, smart environments, virtual characters, and virtual place controllers, that is controllers for lighting and weather conditions. Being cognitively motivated, our approach aims to respect the cognitive demands of a human being, in order to deliver an adequate human-computer interface to ubiquitous and virtual environments. The vertically layered two-pass architecture allows to realize reaction within a certain time frame, as necessary for generating responsiveness and reactivity required for natural interaction, while at the same time providing a layer for further processing of information for creating pro-active, intelligent responses.

Context-Aware Cognitive Agent Architecture for Ambient User Interfaces

An ambient user interface is a set of hidden intelligent interfaces that recognize user’s presence and provides services to immediate needs. There are several research activities on user interfaces and interactions which combining VR/AR, ubiquitous computing/ambient interfaces, and artificial intelligence. However, real-time and intelligent responses of user interfaces are still challenging pro...

Robots, Objects, Humans: Towards Seamless Interaction in Intelligent Environments - Supporting Complex Cooperative Interactions between Humans and Technical Systems in Real World Scenarios through Cognitive Objects

Future intelligent environments will be inhabited by humans, robots and ‘Smart Objects’ and allow for seamless interaction beyond the desktop. These environments therefore have to be adaptive, self-organizing, provide autonomous reasoning and integrate a variety of heterogenous hardware, objects, sensors and actuators – which goes far beyond merely interconnecting different kinds of technology....

High-level Human Figure Action Control for Vision-based Real-time Interaction

This paper presents an real-time interaction system which consists of human motion tracking using skin-colorbased Gaussian blobs and human motion synthesis based on real-time inverse kinematics. Our purpose is to do seamless mapping of human action in the real world into virtual environments. In general, virtual environment applications such as smart interaction require real-time human motion t...

Introduction to the thematic issue on Ambient and Smart Component Technologies for Human Centric Computing

Human-Centric Computing is the discipline that studies the way humans and artificial systems interact reciprocally and exchange information. It is strictly related to other disciplines such as sociology, psychology, cognitive sciences, graphic design and partially overlaps with other ICT technologies such as Human-Computer Interaction, Affective Computing, Persuasive Computing, and others. A st...

Improving results of urban design research by enhancing advanced semiexperiments in virtual environments

There is abundant literature regarding virtual reality as a technology of interest in the present age. However, there are few comprehensive studies on strategies that can improve the level of urban design research using this technique. To investigate the issue, this paper first reviews the concept of virtual reality. Next, the opinions of experts in the field of virtual reality technology are s...
